The regional tournament marks the end of the season for our 8 and under wrestlers, and it was great to see them finish on a high note. Overall, the bantams finished in 3rd place as a team in the field of 16. First place honors were garnered by Ethan Stiles and Jake Nunez, who each secured their fourth championship of the season. Second place finishes were won by Nick Rodriguez, and Payton Dalessandro. Third place finishers included Dominic Covington, Antonio Arce, Sam DelValle, and Juan Lopez. Those finishing in 4th place were Aidan Keane, Josh DelValle, Josh Rodriguez, and Ryan Bonifazi. Great job to all those who participated.
In the 9 & 10 Intermediate division, the Shamrocks finished 8th out of 16 teams. First place honors went to Jake Stiles, adding one more championship to the five he won during the regular season, bringing his season record to 21-2. For the Intermediates, this is a qualifying tournament for the Sectional tournament held this Saturday at Leyden High School. It will be the Intermediates final tournament of the season. Joining Stiles as a Sectional Qualifier is 4th place regional finisher, Anthony Greco.
Our Novice Division wrestlers (11 & 12) finished in 11th place. Sectional Qualifiers include 2nd place finisher, Noah Colello, 4th place finisher Ivan Gonzalez, and Regional Champ Frankie Trevino.
The Seniors finished in 6th place overall, and qualified all 4 wrestlers who participated. First place finishes were awarded to Bobby Jurewicz, Anthony Jarvis, and Wayne Sobotka. Dan Allegretti finished in 3rd place.
The Novice and Senior wrestlers will compete next Saturday at Leyden High School for a chance to represent the Shamrock Wrestling Club at the IKWF State Finals. A 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place finish will give them the honor of calling themselves State Qualifiers.
