The Shamrock Wrestling Club will be represented by 3 wrestlers at this weekend's State Finals at the Rockford Metro Centre in Rockford, IL. Novice wrestler, "Frankie" Trevino finished in 2nd place, while Seniors Anthony Jarvis and Wayne Sobotka both placed 3rd in their respective sectional brackets. The State tournament will take place all day Friday and Saturday. It's a fairly short trip to Rockford for anyone wishing to see the best wrestlers in the State compete for a State Championship. Complete details and schedules can be found on the IKWF web site: www.ikwf.org. Congratulations to this year's qualifiers and good luck at State!
In the Intermediate Division, 10 year old Jake Stiles capped off his season with a Sectional Championship. Intermediate wrestlers cannot qualify for the state tournament, so this marks the final tournament of the year for our 10 and under wrestlers. An excellent finish to a great season. Stiles earned his 7th Title for the year bringing his season record to 25 wins and 2 losses. Great job Jake!

St. Tars Tournament Results
Congratulations to all who participated at the season opener at Notre Dame High School today. In all, the wrestlers showed great promise for a successful year. We have lots to work on at practice still, but a good foundation was demonstrated today upon which can easily build. Special recognition is given to our lone champ, 10 year old, Jake Stiles, who finished the day 3-0 with two falls. In addition, we compiled four 2nd place finishes, ten 3rd place finishes, two 4th place finishers, and three 6th place finishers. In total we had 22 wrestlers participate. The key to making progress in the sport is to wrestle as many matches as you can, and these 22 boys are now on the right path. See you all Tuesday.

Sectional Brackets
If you're interested in where you fall in your sectional bracket, you can see the current version on Track Wrestling. Many changes have taken place overnight, and may also take place Saturday morning, so take it with a grain of salt. Also, if you won't be attending the sectional on Saturday, and wish to follow your teammates you can see real-time results at the same site. Here is a direct link to the tournament. If that doesn't work, go to www.trackwrestling.com and search for the North Chicago Sectional held in Bartlett, IL. Sign-in as a Viewer, go to brackets, and then choose the appropriate bracket. Here's a tip, in the Quick Search Box, Type "North Chicago Sectional" in the Event Name field and click Go. Just make sure to select this year's Sectional (03/06/2010) and not last year's.

Wheaton North Tournament Wrap-up
We had a really nice showing at last week's tournament. Many of the wrestlers are showing vast improvements. The hard work in wrestling room is starting to pay off. 1st place finishers included 6 year old Payton Dalessandro, 9 year old Sam Correa, 12 year old Adrian Salinas, and 13 year old Mike Kozyra. Great job to all who participated. For all but one of our wrestlers, this weekend is a weekend off. Enjoy parents!! This weekend is the famed IKWF Kid's Open in Peoria. We typically only invite our top wrestlers since one of the stipulations is that there is to be no coaching allowed, so the wrestlers are completely on their own on the mat. We'll send our good wishes and luck with 9 year old Jake Stiles as he competes in the Open.

SWC Tourney Wrap-up
527 wrestlers participated in the Shamrock Wrestling Club Tournament on 1/3/10. In all, it was a very successful tournament finishing all bouts by 3PM. We cannot thank enough those parents/family members/friends for all their hard work to make this tournament a success! If you were involved in a specific task, i.e. Head Table, Concessions, Admissions, Bull-Pen, Weigh-ins, Security, etc... we would be very interested in hearing from you on how we can make things better in the future. Specifically, how many people are needed for each of these jobs throughout the day. For example, does running the concessions take 2 volunteers who are there all day, should we break it into 2 time slots (7AM - 11AM and 11AM - 3PM), information such as this will help us develop a better plan to be more organized for future tournaments.
